In the 5th century BC, under the leadership of Nehemiah, the residents of Jerusalem experienced a great renewal in their relationship with God and their identity as his people. An important moment in that process was when Ezra the scribe read the entire Law (The Bible of their day) in front of God's people (Nehemiah 8).
While our current cultural moment isn't quite the same as theirs, we do live in a challenging season, and we do desire renewal. For this reason, we are planning our own cover-to-cover read through of the Bible!
From September 20th to 29th we, as a church, will be reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation!
It's a statement of our reliance and trust in God's word to prevail over any and every situation. It's a declaration of the faithfulness of God through history and in our own cultural moment.
And you are invited to participate! Everyone will have a chance to take a "shift" reading from a Bible positioned on our stage (hand washing/sanitizing will be required before your shift begins). A microphone will be set up in case anyone wants to drop by to listen...and portions of the reading will be live-streamed!
We are asking you to sign up for a 30 minute reading time slot (or two!). The whole process will take 70-80 hours. Check the schedule below to see what time slot(s) might work best for you.
